Dog and cat lovers: don’t lose your pet in Cobb. October 24, 2007

Don’t lose your pet period. But, the Cobb County animal shelter is euthanizing pets illegally.

The state has told the Cobb County animal shelter that it is illegally using a gas chamber to euthanize unwanted pets.

The letter, from Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin, whose department oversees shelter licensing and inspections, withdraws an inspection approval issued in May. The letter tells Cobb to “begin taking whatever steps are necessary to make arrangements for alternative means of euthanizing” the animals
